Mauricio Viquez charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mauricio Viquez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Platanillo's Mauricio Viquez got a free kick in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute, Nery Mondragon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Angel Umaña received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Eric Volio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Freddy Ruiz kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Claudio Hurtado came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Platanillo's Olger Gaitan. But to his dismay, Olger Gaitan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nery Mondragon got free with Eric Volio in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Angel Umaña managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atenas AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Angel Umaña was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eric Volio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Platanillo getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Benito Castillo hit a great ball. Atenas AFC's Claudio Hurtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benito Castillo in the 74th minute of play. Anselmo Cambronero kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Olger Gaitan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Atenas AFC's Claudio Hurtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benito Castillo in the 89th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Angel Umaña in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eric Volio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Platanillo had won after a very even match.
