Spectators: 6793 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1793, VIP seats: 0) In the 5thth minute of the game Virgilio Segura who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Esterillos's Franklin Barrantes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 8th minute, Greivin Chinchilla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Santa Rita FC defense, Greivin Chinchilla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabio Pinto. The Santa Rita FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabio Pinto should have stopped the shot. In the 14th minute, Michael Maldonado left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Esterillos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alejandro Naranjo got free with Franklin Barrantes in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Franklin Barrantes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alejandro Chavarria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tulio Blen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Alejandro Chavarria's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Franklin Barrantes was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Franklin Barrantes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alejandro Naranjo in the 34th minute. Alejandro Naranjo took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Franklin Barrantes. Franklin Barrantes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 39th minute, Leopoldo Merino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Esterillos were awarded a corner in the 42th minute after Santa Rita FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Emilio Carvajal took the corner. After taking down the ball on Esterillos's corner Aurelio Peralta fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Fabio Pinto quite easily take care of the ball. When Tulio Blen came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Esterillos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tulio Blen couldn't finish the play. The Santa Rita FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Esterillos were winning 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Greivin Chinchilla to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Santa Rita FC's Leopoldo Merino got a free kick in the 54th minute. Emilio Carvajal was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 54th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 57th minute of the game, Fabio Alfaro landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Greivin Chinchilla charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Greivin Chinchilla the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 58th minute, Greivin Chinchilla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 67th match minute, Esterillos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aurelio Peralta to maneuver through the defense. Alejandro Naranjo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Franklin Barrantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alejandro Naranjo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Franklin Barrantes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Tulio Blen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Esterillos's zone, Alejandro Naranjo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franklin Barrantes came out of the goal and Alejandro Naranjo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Franklin Barrantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alejandro Naranjo in the 84th minute of play. 85 minutes into the game, Alejandro Naranjo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Franklin Barrantes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Greivin Chinchilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Esterillos players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Santa Rita FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
