When Israel Blen came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Santa Rita fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Israel Blen couldn't finish the play. If Israel Blen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beto Barrantes in the 26th minute of play forced Santa Rita's goalkeeper Rogelio Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, la Fortuna's Tuto Varela dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. la Fortuna were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Santa Rita's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jaime Madriz took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Emiliano Guevara heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 40th minute, Vinicio Guerrero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. David Medina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Israel Blen, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Beto Barrantes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. David Medina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vinicio Guerrero in the 54th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Israel Blen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 65 minutes of play, la Fortuna's Tuto Varela made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rogelio Ortiz was left in no man's land by his defense there! A wasted opportunity for la Fortuna. la Fortuna's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
