Enrique Gamboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bernardo Villareal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olger Quiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Andrei Murillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Bernardo Villareal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Perez Zeledon FC's zone, Andrei Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernardo Villareal came out of the goal and Andrei Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 32 minutes of play, Perez Zeledon AFC's Martin Saborio made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernardo Villareal was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Perez Zeledon FC booed when Perez Zeledon AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arsenio Mejias didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 44 minutes, Enrique Gamboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Perez Zeledon FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enrique Gamboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Elmer Lehman succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 48th playminute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andrei Murillo made a kick off. Elmer Lehman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nestor Carvajal having to make a save. Elmer Lehman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Carvajal having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Elmer Lehman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Perez Zeledon FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Elmer Lehman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nestor Carvajal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Perez Zeledon FC booed when Perez Zeledon AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gonzalo Pineda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nestor Carvajal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Elmer Lehman went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Perez Zeledon FC's Bernardo Villareal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrei Murillo in the 65th minute of play. In the 67th minute Enrique Gamboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Carvajal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute, Gonzalo Pineda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olger Quiros took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bernardo Villareal. Bernardo Villareal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. In the 75th minute, Olger Quiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Olger Quiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
