Bernardo Villareal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Leiton in the 4th minute of the match. 7 minutes into the match, CD Juventud Hatillo's goalkeeper Ronald Ortega had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elmer Lehman. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Perez Zeledon FC's goalkeeper Bernardo Villareal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Salomon Naranjo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Ronald Ortega made a huge save. In the 14th minute Isidoro Leiton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernardo Villareal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Evaristo Huertas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute of the match, Elmer Lehman got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ronald Ortega was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Leiton in the 18th minute of play forced Perez Zeledon FC's goalkeeper Bernardo Villareal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. CD Juventud Hatillo's attentive Diego Cespedes managed to snatch the ball when Bryan Acuña made a throw-in in the 20th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Leiton in the 21st minute of play forced Perez Zeledon FC's goalkeeper Bernardo Villareal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lucas Segura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Villareal having to interfere. Bernardo Villareal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Leiton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernardo Villareal came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by CD Juventud Hatillo's Rafael Quiros. But to his dismay, Rafael Quiros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Bernardo Villareal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Leiton in the 33rd minute of the match. Bernardo Villareal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evaristo Huertas in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 36 minutes, Rafael Quiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CD Juventud Hatillo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rafael Quiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Enrique Gamboa took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Ronald Ortega to make any attempt to save it. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Ronald Ortega stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elmer Lehman's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. After 54 played minutes Perez Zeledon FC got a freekick which was hit by Elmer Lehman. If Evaristo Huertas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Isidoro Leiton put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Bernardo Villareal. Bernardo Villareal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Quiros in the 64th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Perez Zeledon FC defense, Isidoro Leiton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bernardo Villareal. The Perez Zeledon FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bernardo Villareal should have stopped the shot. 69 minutes into the match, Enrique Gamboa notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of CD Juventud Hatillo's Ronald Ortega. Ronald Ortega was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 73 minutes into the match, Perez Zeledon FC's goalkeeper Bernardo Villareal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Isidoro Leiton. Isidoro Leiton's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Bernardo Villareal firmly grabbed it by the left post. Evaristo Huertas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Bernardo Villareal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Perez Zeledon FC's zone, Evaristo Huertas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernardo Villareal came out of the goal and Evaristo Huertas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafael Quiros in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bernardo Villareal saved Perez Zeledon FC from getting behind. Bernardo Villareal was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Isidoro Leiton capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Isidoro Leiton really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. Rafael Quiros's late challenge caught a Perez Zeledon FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rafael Quiros helped the player get up and apologised. Ronald Ortega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Gamboa in the 85th minute of play. If Rafael Quiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronald Ortega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Asdrubal Zamora in the 91st minute of play. If Stanley Bejarano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 94 played minutes Perez Zeledon FC got a freekick which was hit by Edgar Montealegre.
