The referee felt a red card was in order, 3 minutes into the game, when Edgar Orozco put in a rough tackle. Herberto Centeno had in the 4thth minute some difficulties stopping Salomon Duran's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball After some careless play in the Perez Zeledon defense, Salomon Duran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Herberto Centeno. The Perez Zeledon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Herberto Centeno should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Perez Zeledon getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Anselmo Oses hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Arias in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leonel Jara saved Real Cartagines from getting behind. If Christiano Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 15th minute, Christiano Mangueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 17th minute Valentin Rivera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herberto Centeno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Perez Zeledon's goal looked a bit too open when Leon Colon came free, but Herberto Centeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Salomon Duran could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Herberto Centeno made a huge save. Felix Arias struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Leonel Jara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Perez Zeledon. Herberto Centeno had great luck who in the 30thth minute grab hold of the ball when Valentin Rivera from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 32 minutes into the match, Valentin Rivera had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Herberto Centeno. Perez Zeledon's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valentin Rivera was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Salomon Duran received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Herberto Centeno came out and tried to block the shot, but Salomon Duran slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 40th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Salomon Duran made a kick off. Salomon Duran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 59 minutes into the game, Salomon Duran cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Herberto Centeno was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 62 minutes into the match, Perez Zeledon's goal looked a bit too open when Christiano Mangueira came free, but Herberto Centeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Real Cartagines's Salomon Duran got a free kick in the 64th minute. When Salomon Duran got the opportunity to take care of a free kick it resulted in a really dangerous shot that almost went in the goal. Instead the ball went too high, a missed opportunity for Real Cartagines. Herberto Centeno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Salomon Duran in the 69th minute of the match. After 71 played minutes Perez Zeledon got a freekick which was hit by Otilio Ruiz. Willie Mendez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Jara having to interfere. Salomon Duran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Herberto Centeno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Real Cartagines's Tomas Zamora was substituted for Christiano Mangueira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Salomon Duran in the 84th minute of play forced Perez Zeledon's goalkeeper Herberto Centeno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Perez Zeledon's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Zamora came free, but Herberto Centeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Herberto Centeno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valentin Rivera in the 89th minute of play. Leon Colon scored 6-0 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Herberto Centeno, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Real Cartagines's Ricardo Fonseca was substituted for Leon Colon. In the 97th minute Salomon Duran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herberto Centeno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Real Cartagines players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
