If Warner Saenz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bennie Mora fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darien Carvajal having to interfere. In the 11th match minute, Mal pais AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Matamoros to maneuver through the defense. When Tulio Rosales came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Quepos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tulio Rosales couldn't finish the play. In the 17th match minute, Quepos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stanley Chinchilla to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the game, Quepos's Tulio Rosales nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marco Villegas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 34 minutes into the game, Leonel Matamoros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mal pais AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quepos the free kick. In the 34th minute, Leonel Matamoros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brian Arrieta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Marco Villegas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marco Villegas made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Tulio Rosales sent off a good shot on target. Leonel Matamoros hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, Stanley Chinchilla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 47 minutes into the match, Quepos's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelio Mena came free, but Darien Carvajal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The wind increased when Tulio Rosales made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Tulio Rosales managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quepos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tulio Rosales was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bennie Mora hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. In the 57th minute Tulio Rosales shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Villegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Darien Carvajal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Warner Saenz in the 61st minute of play. With his leg Darien Carvajal managed to avoid a goal in the 63rdth minute, when Mal pais AFC's Warner Saenz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Quepos's Hernan Bejarano got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Warner Saenz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 75 minutes into the match, Quepos's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelio Mena came free, but Darien Carvajal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mal pais AFC's Leonel Matamoros got a free kick in the 77th minute. Aurelio Mena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Darien Carvajal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Aurelio Mena went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Darien Carvajal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelio Mena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Quepos supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Mal pais AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Mal pais AFC.
