Seating: 1790, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Arsenio Carazo made the kick off which started today's match. 3 minutes into the match, Tres Rios's goal looked a bit too open when Chunche Palma came free, but Manrique Piedra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arsenio Carazo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kenneth Sanabrias short, quick shot in the 9thth minute got Orlando Jarquin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Puriscal's zone, Asdrubal Sibaja stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Orlando Jarquin came out of the goal and Asdrubal Sibaja tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 12 minutes into the match, Tres Rios's goal looked a bit too open when Chunche Palma came free, but Manrique Piedra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arsenio Carazo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chunche Palma in the 20th minute of play forced Tres Rios's goalkeeper Manrique Piedra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute of the match, Asdrubal Sibaja tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Orlando Jarquin saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Orlando Jarquin was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Asdrubal Sibaja capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Asdrubal Sibaja really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. When Kenneth Sanabria came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Tres Rios fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kenneth Sanabria couldn't finish the play. In the 36th match minute, Tres Rios was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henry Gaitan to maneuver through the defense. Chunche Palma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manrique Piedra having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Puriscal's Arsenio Carazo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Manrique Piedra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Puriscal's Orlando Jarquin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Asdrubal Sibaja in the 46th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
Rafael Rohrmoser hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Puriscal's goalkeeper Orlando Jarquin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arsenio Carazo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Manrique Piedra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Puriscal players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tres Rios.
