Spectators: 6791 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1791, VIP seats: 0) Agustin Ayala made the kick off and thus started the match. After 2 minutes, Wilmer Blanco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tres Rios and the San Jose FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. San Jose FC's Braulio Artavia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herberto Burgos in the 11th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Tres Rios's Inocencio Avila sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Braulio Artavia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Jorge Segura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Braulio Artavia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Inocencio Avila in the 24th minute of play. Alvaro Luna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustin Ayala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Inocencio Avila took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Braulio Artavia. Braulio Artavia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Edgar Valverde hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Braulio Artavia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Inocencio Avila went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
