Spectators: 6789 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1789, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Jason Leiton kicked off to start the match. Mauricio Guerrero hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Chacarita's Mainor Godinez got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dennis Ayala kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Cartago's Alain Chavarria got a free kick in the 9th minute. After having played for 14 minutes, Mainor Godinez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chacarita's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mainor Godinez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 15th minute, Dennis Ayala hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jason Leiton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ramon Arroyo in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of David Reyes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 21st minute, Cartago's Jonny Rojas seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jonny Rojas the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Cartago protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jonny Rojas had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Vinicio Orozco shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Nacho Garcia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mainor Godinez, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute Angelin Duran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nacho Garcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute, Mainor Godinez made a precise shot to the right of Nacho Garcia. Cartago's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Angelin Duran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Angelin Duran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th match minute, Cartago was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis Ayala to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Chacarita were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mainor Godinez to strike the kick off in the second half. Jason Leiton's late challenge caught a Chacarita's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jason Leiton helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Chacarita booed when Cartago was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jason Leiton didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Cartago's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Vinicio Orozco was slow to take the kick. During this time Chacarita's players had a chance to rest. An unexpected shot in the 62nd minute by Angelin Duran got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ramon Arroyo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Reyes having to interfere. In the 80th match minute, Cartago was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramon Arroyo to maneuver through the defense. Mauricio Guerrero hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. 92 minutes into the game, Mainor Godinez recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nacho Garcia. Mainor Godinez showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. The Cartago supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Chacarita's performance. The match ended with a win for Chacarita.
