Spectators: 6800 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1800, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Emmanuel Picado kicked off to start the match. In the 5thth minute of the game Emmanuel Picado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cartago FC's Mauricio Piedra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marco Volio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Buenaventura Godinez having to make a save. In the 12th minute Emmanuel Picado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauricio Piedra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Emmanuel Picado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Tamarindo AFC's Adolfo Cartin got a free kick in the 21st minute. After having played for 22 minutes, Marco Volio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cartago FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Volio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alejandro Luna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Buenaventura Godinez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Volio, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Cartago FC's goalkeeper Mauricio Piedra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marco Jimenez. In the 32nd minute, Edwin Figueres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Buenaventura Godinez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Volio in the 34th minute of play. Marco Volio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Buenaventura Godinez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emmanuel Picado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Pancho Oses charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pancho Oses the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 51st match minute, Cartago FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pancho Oses to maneuver through the defense. When Jesus Perez came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Tamarindo AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jesus Perez couldn't finish the play. After 55 played minutes Cartago FC got a freekick which was hit by Otto Heredia. In the 56th minute Emmanuel Picado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauricio Piedra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alejandro Luna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Buenaventura Godinez made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 61st minute by Alejandro Luna got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Marco Volio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Buenaventura Godinez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Buenaventura Godinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marco Volio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Marco Volio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cartago FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco Volio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Buenaventura Godinez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alejandro Luna might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Buenaventura Godinez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alejandro Luna ran back to his position shaking his head. Emmanuel Picado struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Mauricio Piedra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tamarindo AFC. 75 minutes into the game, Marco Jimenez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Mauricio Piedra was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Marco Jimenez came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Tamarindo AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco Jimenez couldn't finish the play. After having played for 91 minutes, Emmanuel Picado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 96th minute, Pancho Oses got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cartago FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
