Ernesto Martinez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roy Murillo in the 20th minute of play. If Daniel Trejos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alvaro Cordoba made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Alvaro Cordoba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alvin Trejos was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 56th minute, Jaime Ulate hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 57 minutes into the match, Mal pais FC's goalkeeper Ernesto Martinez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alvaro Peralta. In the 60th match minute, Mal pais FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Salas to maneuver through the defense. When Stanley Aguilar fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mal pais FC's protests and gave Stanley Aguilar a yellow card for diving instead. After 67 played minutes Mal pais FC got a freekick which was hit by Stanley Aguilar.
