After a defensive mix-up in Turrialba AFC's zone, Mario Mendez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donald Umaña came out of the goal and Mario Mendez tried to chip the ball over his head. Turrialba AFC's Minor Portuguez got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Minor Portuguez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Turrialba AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Turrialba AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
