Spectators: 6789 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1789, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Emilio Gamboa got the match started through his kick off. Beto Campos kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 11th minute Emilio Gamboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omar Alpizar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clodomiro Godinez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Emilio Gamboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Turrialba's Alejandro Cordero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Turrialba from getting a goal against them. Emilio Gamboa might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Omar Alpizar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emilio Gamboa ran back to his position shaking his head. A hard shot 31 in the game by Chunche Mena from a close distance when the talented Alejandro Cordero managed to make a qualified save. Turrialba's players were relieved. Clodomiro Godinez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejandro Cordero having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gabriel Gamboa during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Turrialba getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Gabriel Gamboa hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Clodomiro Godinez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montezuma AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Clodomiro Godinez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alejandro Cordero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Emilio Gamboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Omar Alpizar having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After a defensive mix-up in Montezuma AFC's zone, Jorge Serrano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Omar Alpizar came out of the goal and Jorge Serrano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jorge Serrano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alejandro Cordero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clodomiro Godinez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorge Serrano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Omar Alpizar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Montezuma AFC's zone, Emilio Gamboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Omar Alpizar came out of the goal and Emilio Gamboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Turrialba's Jorge Serrano got a free kick in the 76th minute. Turrialba's Alejandro Cordero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clodomiro Godinez in the 80th minute of play.
