Spectators: 6810 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1810, VIP seats: 0) Emilio Gamboa made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 3rd minute, Nino Campos made a precise shot to the right of Alejandro Cordero. Turrialba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Nino Campos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jorge Serrano who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 27thth minute tested the skills of Salvador Hidalgo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 29 minutes into the game, Anselmo Godinez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Turrialba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atenas the free kick. Anselmo Godinez kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. After 30 played minutes, Atenas's Irving Varela shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alejandro Cordero came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Atenas reached it. Salvador Hidalgo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilio Gamboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Salvador Hidalgo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilio Gamboa in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 35th minute Isidoro Wanchope shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alejandro Cordero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nino Campos scored 0-2 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alejandro Cordero, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gabriel Gamboa's late challenge caught a Atenas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabriel Gamboa helped the player get up and apologised. Gabriel Gamboa kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Jorge Serrano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Salvador Hidalgo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Turrialba players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Atenas were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Nino Campos made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Jorge Serrano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador Hidalgo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Jorge Serrano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Turrialba's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorge Serrano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Salvador Hidalgo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Isidoro Wanchope fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejandro Cordero having to interfere. Emilio Gamboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Atenas's Nino Campos slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alejandro Cordero. That made the score 0-3 after 69 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in Turrialba's zone, Nino Campos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alejandro Cordero came out of the goal and Nino Campos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 82 minutes into the match, Turrialba's goal looked a bit too open when Nino Campos came free, but Alejandro Cordero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Turrialba's Alejandro Cordero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Turrialba from getting a goal against them. A hard shot 85 in the game by Isidoro Wanchope from a close distance when the talented Alejandro Cordero managed to make a qualified save. Turrialba's players were relieved. Alejandro Cordero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nino Campos went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Salvador Hidalgo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Serrano in the 92nd minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Atenas left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Turrialba.
