Roy Parra hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. 47 minutes into the match, Montezuma AFC's Chunche Mena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roy Villareal narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Clodomiro Godinez made a kick off. Miguel Heredia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute, Beto Campos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Barboza got free with Roy Villareal in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Omar Alpizar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Uriel Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Barboza hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. After 66 minutes, Olman Barrantes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Escazu FC and the Montezuma AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Olman Barrantes kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Roy Villareal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clodomiro Godinez in the 69th minute of play. If Miguel Heredia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Escazu FC's Uriel Matos in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Montezuma AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Reinaldo Mesa's late challenge caught a Montezuma AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reinaldo Mesa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Montezuma AFC booed when Escazu FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinaldo Mesa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 80 minutes, Miguel Heredia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Escazu FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Heredia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Miguel Heredia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Uriel Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Omar Alpizar having to interfere. Clodomiro Godinez struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Roy Villareal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montezuma AFC. Escazu FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
