If Tuto Duran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Otoniel Redondo scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luis Carballo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Minor Porras recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Michael Hernandez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Diego Cordero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Costa Rica national FC booed when la Fortuna FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otoniel Redondo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tuto Duran blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Diego Cordero having to make a save. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tuto Duran made a kick off. When Minor Porras came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Costa Rica national FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Minor Porras couldn't finish the play. In the 56th minute, Minor Porras got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. la Fortuna FC's Diego Cordero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Matamoros in the 58th minute of play.
