Oldemar Cordero hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Victor Maroto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Mendez, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. If Napoleon Esquivel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Escazu AFC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Daniel Arrieta hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Limon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson Mendez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronald Coronado got free with Johnny Leon in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 90 played minutes Limon got a freekick which was hit by Felipe Alpizar. After a rather tough play, Limon's Felipe Alpizar got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
