In the 22nd match minute, Atenas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Portuguez to maneuver through the defense. Vinicio Campos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stanley Varela having to interfere. Anibal Ayala received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Stanley Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nino Orozco scored 0-3 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stanley Varela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Stanley Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anibal Ayala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Palmares AFC's Vinicio Campos got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anibal Ayala in the 38th minute of play forced Atenas FC's goalkeeper Stanley Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute, Efren Fuentes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Asdrubal Matos, passed just outside the right post. Roy Ayala charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roy Ayala the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Palmares AFC getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. The wind increased when Efren Fuentes made the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute of the match, Vinicio Campos tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Stanley Varela saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Leo Portuguez's late challenge caught a Palmares AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stanley Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vinicio Campos, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. The supporters of Palmares AFC booed when Atenas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexis Conejo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Palmares AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
