Seating: 1792, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Johnny Lara took the kick off in the first half of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Johnny Lara in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gabriel Castillo saved Uvita AFC from getting behind. Ismael Badilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Gabriel Castillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Napoleon Martinez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Napoleon Martinez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uvita AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Napoleon Martinez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eric Molina breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 24th minute, Elvis Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 25 minutes into the match, Santa Ana's Walter Leon broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Ismael Badilla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gabriel Castillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johnny Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eric Molina took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Napoleon Martinez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ismael Badilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Uvita AFC booed when Santa Ana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Blen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manuel Vindas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Molina having to interfere. When Santa Ana's Johnny Lara in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Uvita AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Napoleon Martinez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Molina having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Napoleon Martinez to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Johnny Lara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Uvita AFC's Alfonso Gamboa got a free kick in the 59th minute. Uvita AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Johnny Lara scored to the left of an out of position Gabriel Castillo, making the score, 0-1. In the 65thth minute of the game Napoleon Martinez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santa Ana's Eric Molina was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Manuel Vindas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Eric Molina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gabriel Castillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnny Lara in the 75th minute of the match. Johnny Lara struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Gabriel Castillo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santa Ana. After 85 played minutes Santa Ana got a freekick which was hit by Chunche Ayala. 86 minutes into the game, Napoleon Martinez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uvita AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santa Ana the free kick. In the 86th minute, Napoleon Martinez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Uvita AFC's Gabriel Castillo got control of the ball when Ismael Badilla tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Ismael Badilla took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Gabriel Castillo to make any attempt to save it. If Manuel Vindas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Santa Ana supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Santa Ana would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
