Spectators: 7875 (Terracing: 5907, Seating: 1811, VIP seats: 157) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Salvador Mondragon got the match started through his kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Tamarindo AFC's goalkeeper Agustin Ledezma had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benvide Fonticoba. If Salvador Mondragon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute Salvador Mondragon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Lankaster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Sidney Downes came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Deportivo El Cid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sidney Downes couldn't finish the play. In the 14th minute, Benvide Fonticoba got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Benvide Fonticoba could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Agustin Ledezma made a huge save. If Inocencio Eyague had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benvide Fonticoba's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Agustin Ledezma read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Benvide Fonticoba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Agustin Ledezma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fello Sirias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benvide Fonticoba took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Agustin Ledezma. Agustin Ledezma dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. If Benvide Fonticoba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Inocencio Eyague received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Agustin Ledezma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benvide Fonticoba made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Inocencio Eyague ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Agustin Ledezma was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Agustin Ledezma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inocencio Eyague, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abel Lankaster made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salvador Mondragon in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th minute Tamarindo AFC were awarded a corner. Jorge Carvajal went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Jorge Carvajal got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Abel Lankaster quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Fello Sirias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Lankaster having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fello Sirias got free with Abel Lankaster in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benvide Fonticoba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agustin Ledezma having to interfere. The supporters of Tamarindo AFC booed when Deportivo El Cid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Oses didn't get a good kick on the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Deportivo El Cid's goal looked a bit too open when Salvador Mondragon came free, but Abel Lankaster reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Drew Alderson hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. If Leopoldo Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benvide Fonticoba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Agustin Ledezma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leopoldo Matos might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Agustin Ledezma. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leopoldo Matos ran back to his position shaking his head. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 96th minute, but Abel Lankaster got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Deportivo El Cid hanging dry this time. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Deportivo El Cid fully deserved thier win.
