Abel Lankaster made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Giovanni Aguilar sent off a good shot on target. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Guacimo FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sidney Downes was slow to take the kick. During this time Deportivo El Cid's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Deportivo El Cid's Sidney Downes to fire away a dangerous shot which Gonzalo Castillo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Benvide Fonticoba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo El Cid's supporters rose to their feet, but Benvide Fonticoba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gonzalo Castillo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benvide Fonticoba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Sidney Downes fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo El Cid's protests and gave Sidney Downes a yellow card for diving instead. Sidney Downes kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Minor Nuñez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abel Lankaster was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. In the 40th minute Benvide Fonticoba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gonzalo Castillo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Deportivo El Cid were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benvide Fonticoba was the one to do the kick off. Benvide Fonticoba received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gonzalo Castillo came out and tried to block the shot, but Benvide Fonticoba slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 55th minute. When Inocencio Eyague came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Deportivo El Cid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Inocencio Eyague couldn't finish the play. 65 minutes into the game, Minor Nuñez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Abel Lankaster was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 69th minute, Pepe Duarte left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Guacimo FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. If Pepe Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gonzalo Castillo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benvide Fonticoba in the 80th minute. Inocencio Eyague received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Gonzalo Castillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 84 minutes into the match, Guacimo FC's goalkeeper Gonzalo Castillo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benvide Fonticoba.
