Tuto Huertas scored 0-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kenneth Morales, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jorge Picado kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. In the 14th minute of the match Leopoldo Ulloa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kenneth Morales showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Braulio Pineda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heredia's Beto Talamanca pulled a muscle in his back after 35 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 35 minutes into the game, Abelardo Matos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Platanillo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Heredia the free kick. Heredia's Kenneth Morales played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tuto Huertas in the 40th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Elmer Rojas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Rogelio Duarte was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elmer Rojas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Platanillo defense, Elmer Rojas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rogelio Duarte. The Platanillo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rogelio Duarte should have stopped the shot. Kenneth Morales showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Braulio Pineda in the 62nd minute of the match. Elmer Rojas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogelio Duarte having to interfere. Rogelio Duarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elmer Rojas, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Tuto Huertas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Platanillo's supporters rose to their feet, but Tuto Huertas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenneth Morales breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Platanillo getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Cid Rivas hit a great ball. In the 77th minute Braulio Pineda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kenneth Morales saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Tuto Huertas in the 82nd play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Kenneth Morales kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 2-2 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. 86 minutes into the game, Platanillo's Tuto Huertas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kenneth Morales made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Tuto Huertas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Felix Cisneros hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Leopoldo Ulloa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Kenneth Morales made a huge save. Braulio Pineda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Platanillo eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
