Nery Marin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Mesa in the 6th minute of play. Reinaldo Gamboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emmanuel Picado in the 8th minute. Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emmanuel Picado in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Frank Rosabal notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Jaco AFC's Nery Marin. Nery Marin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Benny Cambronero fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jaco AFC's protests and gave Benny Cambronero a yellow card for diving instead. In the 18th match minute, Jaco AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benny Cambronero to maneuver through the defense. Frank Rosabal struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Nery Marin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Limon FC. Saul Gaitan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 26 minutes into the game, Jaco AFC's Francisco Varela nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reinaldo Gamboa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Reinaldo Gamboa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jesus Sandi in the 31st minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Gamboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emmanuel Picado, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Varela got free with Reinaldo Gamboa in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 36th minute Jesus Sandi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reinaldo Gamboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Francisco Varela's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Reinaldo Gamboa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Varela in the 54th minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Gamboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexis Portuguez took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reinaldo Gamboa. Reinaldo Gamboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After 60 played minutes Limon FC got a freekick which was hit by Nery Padilla. Frank Rosabal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nery Marin having to make a save. Reinaldo Gamboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Otto Campos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Francisco Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the game, Emmanuel Picado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Reinaldo Gamboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Reinaldo Gamboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nery Marin was a little too slow when Santiago Mesa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 4-2. Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Varela, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. In the 87th match minute, Jaco AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexis Portuguez to maneuver through the defense. 93 minutes into the match, Limon FC's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Varela came free, but Reinaldo Gamboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Jaco AFC's goalkeeper Nery Marin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Saul Gaitan. Otto Campos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jaco AFC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Limon FC for a fine match.
