Santiago Mesa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pablo Cordoba having to interfere. Ignacio Peña struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Reinaldo Gamboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arenal. 16 minutes into the game, Raul Arce cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Reinaldo Gamboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Limon FC booed when Arenal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Arnaez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raul Arce, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute Raul Arce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reinaldo Gamboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ignacio Peña took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reinaldo Gamboa. Reinaldo Gamboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Bernardo Carazo kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Pablo Cordoba was a little too slow when Mauricio Soto got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 1-4. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Mauricio Soto took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Pablo Cordoba to make any attempt to save it.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Frank Rosabal to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bennie Acuña in the 53rd minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Gamboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Rosabal hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Andres Aguilar charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andres Aguilar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 67 minutes into the game, Frank Rosabal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-4. The Limon FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-4. In the 74thth minute of the game Frank Rosabal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arenal's Pablo Cordoba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
