Spectators: 9211 (Terracing: 6910, Seating: 2118, VIP seats: 183) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Anselmo Miranda took the kick off in the first half of the match. 3 minutes into the match, CD Juventud Hatillo's goal looked a bit too open when Hernan Paniagua came free, but Desiderio Palben reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ulises Sanchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselmo Miranda in the 6th minute of play. After a rather tough play, UIR Alajuela's Anibal Vindas got a free kick in the 8th minute. When Hernan Paniagua fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored UIR Alajuela's protests and gave Hernan Paniagua a yellow card for diving instead. Edwin Sancho hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the match, UIR Alajuela's goal looked a bit too open when Ronald Saenz came free, but Ulises Sanchez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. CD Juventud Hatillo's Desiderio Palben proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save CD Juventud Hatillo from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, CD Juventud Hatillo's Elmer Guardia got a free kick in the 20th minute. A collision led to CD Juventud Hatillo getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Johnny Coto hit a great ball. Ulises Sanchez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilio Sancho in the 31st minute of the match. Ulises Sanchez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anselmo Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ulises Sanchez came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by CD Juventud Hatillo's Ronald Saenz. But to his dismay, Ronald Saenz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 37 minutes into the match, Ronald Saenz notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of UIR Alajuela's Ulises Sanchez. Ulises Sanchez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Anselmo Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulises Sanchez having to interfere. After the first half CD Juventud Hatillo were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

A collision led to CD Juventud Hatillo getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Oscar Ledezma hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinaldo Lehman in the 61st minute of play forced CD Juventud Hatillo's goalkeeper Desiderio Palben to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd match minute, UIR Alajuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darien Castillo to maneuver through the defense. Emilio Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Ulises Sanchez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Desiderio Palben showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reinaldo Lehman, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. With a little luck, UIR Alajuela's Ulises Sanchez got control of the ball when Jonny Alfaro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Desiderio Palben showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darien Castillo in the 92nd minute of the match. CD Juventud Hatillo played a much better game than UIR Alajuela and deserved their victory. The UIR Alajuela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
