In the 15th minute, Jaime Umaña ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Franklin Duran was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 20 minutes, Bryan Chamberlain mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Limon FC and the Union getse players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Limon FC's Bryan Chamberlain got a free kick in the 20th minute. If Angelin Gallo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emilio Blanco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angelin Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Limon FC's Franklin Duran proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Limon FC from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Limon FC's zone, Jaime Umaña stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franklin Duran came out of the goal and Jaime Umaña tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Limon FC were furious when Oldemar Orozco was red carded, 34 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Limon FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 34th minute. Penalty! 44 minutes into the game, Angel Villafranca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Union getse's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Limon FC the free kick. In the 44th match minute, Union getse was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angel Villafranca to maneuver through the defense. Alain Viquez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 45th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Emilio Blanco. Union getse's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The crowd rose to their feet as Limon FC's Angelin Gallo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Emilio Blanco. That made the score 2-3 after 53 minutes of play. 56 minutes into the match, Angelin Gallo notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of Union getse's Emilio Blanco. Emilio Blanco was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 60 minutes of play, Limon FC's Angelin Gallo made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emilio Blanco was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ruben Echeverria charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Alain Viquez succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-6 in the 68th playminute. After having played for 72 minutes, Alain Viquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Limon FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alain Viquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Limon FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Raul Lara hit a great ball. Fabian Paniagua received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Franklin Duran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emilio Blanco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Angelin Gallo in the 87th minute. Angelin Gallo struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Emilio Blanco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Limon FC.
