The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ulises Sanchez was out of position in the 7 minute of play, and Daniel Borbon capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Daniel Borbon really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Ulises Sanchez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Otto Pinto in the 11th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the game, Romulo Ruiz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Xtreme X X's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UIR Alajuela the free kick. A collision led to Xtreme X X getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Romulo Ruiz hit a great ball. In the 18th minute, Evaristo Masis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ramon Cisneros charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramon Cisneros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 23 played minutes UIR Alajuela got a freekick which was hit by Ramon Cisneros. 26 minutes into the match, Xtreme X X's goal looked a bit too open when Reinaldo Lehman came free, but Rigoberto Madriz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes into the game, Alejandro Osorio lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Ulises Sanchez. Reinaldo Lehman hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, Alejandro Osorio made a precise shot to the right of Ulises Sanchez. UIR Alajuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Darien Castillo to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alejandro Osorio in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ulises Sanchez saved UIR Alajuela from getting behind. 54 minutes into the match, UIR Alajuela's goal looked a bit too open when Otto Pinto came free, but Ulises Sanchez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as UIR Alajuela's Darien Castillo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rigoberto Madriz. That made the score 3-1 after 59 minutes of play. 63 minutes into the game, Alejandro Osorio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Xtreme X X's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UIR Alajuela the free kick. Alejandro Osorio hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. UIR Alajuela's Ulises Sanchez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nacho Blen in the 69th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in UIR Alajuela's zone, Romulo Ruiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulises Sanchez came out of the goal and Romulo Ruiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of UIR Alajuela booed when Xtreme X X was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otto Pinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Darien Castillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rigoberto Madriz having to interfere. After 81 minutes, Nacho Blen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Xtreme X X and the UIR Alajuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 82nd minute, Nacho Blen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alejandro Osorio scored 4-1 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ulises Sanchez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 88th minute, one of UIR Alajuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for UIR Alajuela. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Keylor Ayala managed to get in a good position for a shot. Xtreme X X's supporters rose to their feet, but Keylor Ayala was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulises Sanchez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. UIR Alajuela's Ulises Sanchez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Osorio in the 97th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alejandro Osorio in the 98th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ulises Sanchez saved UIR Alajuela from getting behind.
