Napoleon Vega hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Keylor Navas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Rosales in the 7th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as San José's Napoleon Vega slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Desiderio Palben. That made the score 1-0 after 8 minutes of play. In the 13th minute Anselmo Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keylor Navas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Rosales in the 14th minute of play forced San José's goalkeeper Keylor Navas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emilio Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Keylor Navas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emilio Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keylor Navas having to interfere. In the 21st minute, Anselmo Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 26 minutes into the match, San José's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Miranda came free, but Keylor Navas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rodolfo Rosales scored 1-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Keylor Navas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. San José's Keylor Navas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emilio Sancho in the 30th minute of play. Alberto Thome sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 34 minutes, Elmer Guardia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CD Juventud Hatillo and the San José players grew even worse after the yellow card. When San José's Napoleon Vega in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind San José's goalkeeper Keylor Navas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alberto Thome received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Desiderio Palben tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Otto Alfaro's late challenge caught a CD Juventud Hatillo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Otto Alfaro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 57th minute, Otto Alfaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in San José's zone, Rodolfo Rosales stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Keylor Navas came out of the goal and Rodolfo Rosales tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 60th minute of the game, Bernardo Tenorio landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. During the 60th minute of the match Elmer Guardia completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Elmer Guardia a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to CD Juventud Hatillo getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Elmer Guardia hit a great ball. In the 62nd minute of the match Yetkin Uçanok shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Desiderio Palben showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 63 minutes into the match, San José's goalkeeper Keylor Navas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rodolfo Rosales. If Alberto Thome had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Thome recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rodolfo Rosales sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Desiderio Palben showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Thome in the 80th minute of the match. Alberto Thome recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th minute, Rodolfo Rosales got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 88th minute, Anselmo Miranda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 90 minutes, Alberto Thome managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. San José's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Thome was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 91 played minutes CD Juventud Hatillo got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Gallo. Keylor Navas made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Rodolfo Rosales sent off a good shot on target. Emilio Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Keylor Navas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. CD Juventud Hatillo's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because San José had won, even though CD Juventud Hatillo had held more of the ball.
