Spectators: 5200 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1200, VIP seats: 0) Ave Fenix's Gilberto Obando started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 3 minutes, Miguel Blen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ave Fenix's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Blen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ave Fenix's Gilberto Obando got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 9 minutes into the game, Limon FC's Angelin Gallo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Josue Talamanca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Julio Picado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Limon FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Julio Picado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Josue Talamanca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 16 minutes into the match, Ave Fenix's goal looked a bit too open when Angelin Gallo came free, but Josue Talamanca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ave Fenix's Claudio Duran got a free kick in the 16th minute. Franklin Duran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alan Duran in the 23rd minute of play. Josue Talamanca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Macho Ledezma in the 25th minute of the match. Julio Picado kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Miguel Blen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Franklin Duran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute Julio Picado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Josue Talamanca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miguel Blen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Ave Fenix's zone, Angelin Gallo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Josue Talamanca came out of the goal and Angelin Gallo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Angelin Gallo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 41st minute of the match, Gilberto Obando tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Franklin Duran saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Julio Picado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Josue Talamanca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, Ave Fenix's goal looked a bit too open when Julio Picado came free, but Josue Talamanca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

52 minutes into the game, Alan Duran was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ave Fenix's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Limon FC the free kick. In the 52nd match minute, Ave Fenix was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Duran to maneuver through the defense. After 55 minutes of play, Ave Fenix's Ronald Villalobos made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Franklin Duran was left in no man's land by his defense there! Miguel Blen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Duran having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Gilberto Obando notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Limon FC's Franklin Duran. Franklin Duran was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Angelin Gallo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Franklin Duran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cid Leiton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilberto Obando fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Duran having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Oldemar Orozco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute, Macho Ledezma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Obando in the 88th minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Franklin Duran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angelin Gallo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Josue Talamanca having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ave Fenix players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
