The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Limon FC's Angelin Gallo got a free kick in the 9th minute. Cobano AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julio Varela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Franklin Duran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adolfo Coto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alvin Lopez made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Angelin Gallo sent off a good shot on target. Irvin Vilchez's late challenge caught a Cobano AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Irvin Vilchez helped the player get up and apologised. Irvin Vilchez hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Julio Picado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alvin Lopez having to interfere. A collision led to Limon FC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Macho Ledezma hit a great ball. If Julio Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 37 minutes into the game, Rogelio Guadamuz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cobano AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Limon FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Cobano AFC's Rogelio Guadamuz got a free kick in the 37th minute. Julio Picado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alvin Lopez having to make a save. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julio Picado made a kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Limon FC's Angelin Gallo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alvin Lopez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 54th minute, Bryan Chamberlain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cobano AFC's Julio Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adolfo Coto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Duran having to interfere. Angelin Gallo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alvin Lopez having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Bernardo Talamanca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Angelin Gallo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute of the match Raul Lara sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alvin Lopez skillfully saved the ball. Adolfo Coto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Franklin Duran made a huge save. Franklin Duran didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adolfo Coto went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Angelin Gallo in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alvin Lopez saved Cobano AFC from getting behind. Franklin Duran made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Adolfo Coto sent off a good shot on target. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Limon FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cobano AFC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
