Franklin Parra scored 0-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Elvis Ramirez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mario Mejias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tito Hernandez having to interfere. Clodomiro Guillen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tito Hernandez having to make a save. Tito Hernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro Talamanca in the 19th minute of play. If Celso Sanchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Agustin Calderon during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Perez Zeledon FC booed when Platanillo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustin Calderon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Perez Zeledon FC's Elvis Ramirez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benito Peralta in the 29th minute of play. Platanillo AFC's Tito Hernandez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Platanillo AFC from getting a goal against them. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Teodoro Talamanca was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Platanillo AFC's Agustin Calderon dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Platanillo AFC's attack was well implemented in the 96th minute, but when Benito Peralta was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Platanillo AFC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Perez Zeledon FC's much stronger midfield.
