Perez Zeledon FC's Elvis Ramirez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Perez Zeledon FC from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Club Nacional de Football booed when Perez Zeledon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Club Nacional de Football's Eric Mena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodoro Talamanca in the 29th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Club Nacional de Football's goal looked a bit too open when Clodomiro Guillen came free, but Eric Mena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 36 played minutes Club Nacional de Football got a freekick which was hit by Gerardo Heredia. Clodomiro Guillen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Mena having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, Teodoro Talamanca notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Club Nacional de Football's Eric Mena. Eric Mena was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Club Nacional de Football players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Perez Zeledon FC were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Gerardo Heredia made the kick off in the second half. If Gerardo Heredia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 61 played minutes Perez Zeledon FC got a freekick which was hit by Celso Sanchez. When Club Nacional de Football's Fabio Gaitan in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Fabio Gaitan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gerardo Heredia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Perez Zeledon FC's Clodomiro Guillen got a free kick in the 75th minute. When Teodoro Talamanca came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Perez Zeledon FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teodoro Talamanca couldn't finish the play. Elvis Ramirez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabio Gaitan in the 85th minute of the match. Fabio Gaitan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Elvis Ramirez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Although Club Nacional de Football had been in control for most of the match, Perez Zeledon FC still came away with the win.
