Eric Mena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonny Matarrita, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 5th match minute, Club Nacional de Football was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mikael Cubero to maneuver through the defense. In the 7th minute, Berny Guevara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Sibaja in the 9th minute of play forced Club Nacional de Football's goalkeeper Eric Mena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Club Nacional de Football's Gerardo Heredia in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After having played for 43 minutes, Humberto Sibaja managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liberia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Humberto Sibaja was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Liberia's Elvis Borbon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerardo Heredia in the 48th minute of play.
The wind increased when Berny Guevara made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Club Nacional de Football's Oldemar Duarte sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elvis Borbon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Calderon charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Julio Calderon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd minute, Julio Calderon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elvis Borbon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oldemar Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Orlich charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlos Orlich the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Carlos Orlich hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. If Oldemar Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oldemar Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabio Gaitan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 64 minutes of play, Liberia's Kenneth Murillo made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eric Mena was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mainor Cantillo kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Freddy Camacho sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Club Nacional de Football's Eric Mena didn't even have to move. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berny Guevara in the 72nd minute of play forced Club Nacional de Football's goalkeeper Eric Mena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th match minute, Liberia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Sibaja to maneuver through the defense. Oldemar Duarte blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elvis Borbon having to make a save. Mainor Cantillo hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 88th match minute, Club Nacional de Football was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mainor Cantillo to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Club Nacional de Football's zone, Berny Guevara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric Mena came out of the goal and Berny Guevara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eric Mena came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Liberia's Berny Guevara. But to his dismay, Berny Guevara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Liberia's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
