The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With an all-out effort, Universitario's Brion Sevane threw himself towards the right post 5 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eliseo Parada, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Derwin Portela could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Brion Sevane made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jakue Trarigo in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gorka Piñeira saved Universitario from getting behind. 18 minutes into the game, Derwin Portela cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Brion Sevane was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 23rd minute Jakue Trarigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gorka Piñeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in FC Alianza's zone, Eliseo Parada stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brion Sevane came out of the goal and Eliseo Parada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Brion Sevane managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when Universitario's Derwin Portela fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Derwin Portela who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Brion Sevane when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Herminio Torroba hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Gorka Piñeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zunbeltz Bertiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Eliseo Parada kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Brion Sevane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Parada in the 64th minute of play. Eliseo Parada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brion Sevane having to interfere. In the 77th minute Derwin Portela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brion Sevane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brion Sevane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliseo Parada in the 86th minute of the match. When Universitario's Derwin Portela in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Alianza's goalie prevented a goal. Eliseo Parada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brion Sevane having to interfere. After some careless play in the FC Alianza defense, Eliseo Parada kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brion Sevane. The FC Alianza fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brion Sevane should have stopped the shot. Universitario walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
