After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Cristal's zone, Paulino Rino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basajaun Valencina came out of the goal and Paulino Rino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xulio Cota in the 10th minute of play forced Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Basajaun Valencina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Villarreal RR-FC booed when Sporting Cristal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dacio Goñi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Agustin Fitado kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Villarreal RR-FC's Peru Chavarre couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 20th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Sporting Cristal. Xulio Cota blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Basajaun Valencina having to make a save. If Paulino Rino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 minutes, Xulio Cota mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Villarreal RR-FC and the Sporting Cristal players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 32 played minutes Villarreal RR-FC got a freekick which was hit by Xulio Cota. If Xulio Cota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulino Rino took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Basajaun Valencina. Basajaun Valencina dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. A collision led to Villarreal RR-FC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Rencio Bargas hit a great ball. Niolaao Olivarez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ladislao Ricoy in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Xulio Cota made the kick off in the second half. Paulino Rino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Basajaun Valencina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 60th minute of the match Sporting Cristal got a corner. Villarreal RR-FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Henric Cardillo ran over to the corner to take the kick. After having played for 65 minutes, Xulio Cota managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villarreal RR-FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xulio Cota was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 69thth minute of the game Neto Romano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Villarreal RR-FC's Niolaao Olivarez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Neto Romano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Basajaun Valencina made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Paulino Rino sent off a good shot on target. Sporting Cristal's defense didn't have a chance, in the 76th minute, when Xulio Cota scored to the left of an out of position Basajaun Valencina, making the score, 0-2. Basajaun Valencina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xulio Cota, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 83rd minute of the match, Xulio Cota tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Basajaun Valencina saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After having played for 85 minutes, Xulio Cota managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villarreal RR-FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xulio Cota was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Villarreal RR-FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Cristal the free kick. Villarreal RR-FC's Niolaao Olivarez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ladislao Ricoy in the 95th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Villarreal RR-FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sporting Cristal.
