In the 15th minute Eustaquio Villarprego shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ordono Lacle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th match minute, DEPORTIVO TACNA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jabier Queipo to maneuver through the defense. When Palermo F.C's Eustaquio Villarprego in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Zeru Dorrial blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Laureano Somalo having to make a save. Zeru Dorrial recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gentza Viteri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ordono Lacle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oriche Sagarribay was the one to do the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 54 minutes, Laureano Somalo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Oriche Sagarribay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Laureano Somalo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zeru Dorrial succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-3 in the 57th playminute. The DEPORTIVO TACNA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ordono Lacle should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Oriche Sagarribay's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Laureano Somalo was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. DEPORTIVO TACNA's Ordono Lacle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eustaquio Villarprego in the 75th minute of play. Laureano Somalo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pudes Fontecha in the 80th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the game, Rigoberto Bachicabo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palermo F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave DEPORTIVO TACNA the free kick.
