After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Otoniel Sasiain managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Otoniel Sasiain was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Indar Loayza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. AFC's Ler Argüello got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gabriel Britto to strike the kick off in the second half. Enekoitz Cabada came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Indar Loayza could save by the left post. Fabiano Dionisi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marco Palacio having to make a save. AFC's Marco Palacio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dante Bemabe in the 56th minute of play. Ler Argüello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of AFC booed when Club Atlético Piura was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Club Atlético Piura walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
