Fenix's Wilfredo Rancaño got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 11th minute, Santxol Camango got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fenix's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilfredo Rancaño was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Wilfredo Rancaño came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Fenix fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilfredo Rancaño couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo San Román's zone, Rosalio Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geraldo Fermosel came out of the goal and Rosalio Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Montes Maximino hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. 65 minutes into the match, Fenix's goal looked a bit too open when Santxol Camango came free, but Jago Baltuile reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Galeno Traspalacios sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Wilfredo Rancaño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 minutes of play, Fenix's Rosalio Sancho made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Geraldo Fermosel was left in no man's land by his defense there! 94 minutes into the match, Galeno Traspalacios notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Fenix's Jago Baltuile. Jago Baltuile was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
