In the 25th minute, Xulio Ribadas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo San Román's zone, Marin Galindez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geraldo Fermosel came out of the goal and Marin Galindez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Galeno Traspalacios who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Ponce Ansola when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ponce Ansola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santxol Camango, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute, Deportivo San Román's Galeno Traspalacios dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. When Xulio Ribadas fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Geminis's protests and gave Xulio Ribadas a yellow card for diving instead. With his leg Ponce Ansola managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Deportivo San Román's Galeno Traspalacios fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Casomiro Peredo made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Geminis's zone, Galeno Traspalacios stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ponce Ansola came out of the goal and Galeno Traspalacios tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cruz Gamiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ponce Ansola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Galeno Traspalacios in the 60th minute of the match. After having played for 62 minutes, Cruz Gamiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo San Román's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cruz Gamiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
