After 11 played minutes DM Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Bizen Gao. 13 minutes into the match, DM Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Ubendu Verganza came free, but Tiago Arenillas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Efraim Arechavala had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tiago Arenillas. DM Athletic's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Efraim Arechavala was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 18th match minute, sporchiclayo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beremundo Bedia to maneuver through the defense. If Tallia Gundin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute Ubendu Verganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Arenillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tallia Gundin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Hanni Machuca made a huge save. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tiago Arenillas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Iratxo Isasaga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Tallia Gundin made the kick off in the second half. Tallia Gundin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hanni Machuca having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Maore Ochari hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tiago Arenillas made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Efraim Arechavala sent off a good shot on target. If Tallia Gundin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. In the 62nd minute, Manny Lombillo made a precise shot to the right of Hanni Machuca. sporchiclayo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. If Ubendu Verganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. DM Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave sporchiclayo the free kick. Tiago Arenillas was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Ubendu Verganza capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ubendu Verganza really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. The sporchiclayo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing sporchiclayo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
