Lorenz Franquis's late challenge caught a Independiente de Mendoza's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lorenz Franquis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th minute, Lorenz Franquis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barry van der Leegte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basarab Mutu, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After 31 minutes, Enetz Murcia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canabis FC and the Independiente de Mendoza players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Canabis FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Enetz Murcia hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Ambrosio Reyna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Basarab Mutu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Barry van der Leegte. Canabis FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Basarab Mutu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Musko Saena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Canabis FC's goalkeeper Barry van der Leegte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Basarab Mutu. If Basarab Mutu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dantel Trubica sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Canabis FC defense, Basarab Mutu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Barry van der Leegte. The Canabis FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Barry van der Leegte should have stopped the shot. 65 minutes into the match, Canabis FC's goalkeeper Barry van der Leegte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Barry van der Leegte made a huge save. A collision led to Canabis FC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Dani Carvajal hit a great ball. Ambrosio Reyna blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Barry van der Leegte having to make a save. Barry van der Leegte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Basarab Mutu in the 72nd minute. If Musko Saena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cortez Nurueña stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Musko Saena's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente de Mendoza's zone, Soter Palenciano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cortez Nurueña came out of the goal and Soter Palenciano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Soter Palenciano charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Soter Palenciano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 83 played minutes Canabis FC got a freekick which was hit by Soter Palenciano. In the 89th minute, Lorenz Franquis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Canabis FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Independiente de Mendoza were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
