Artaldo Ontoria's late challenge caught a FC CARROÑEROS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Artaldo Ontoria helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Universitario FC's Artaldo Ontoria got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Paolo Guerrero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ambrosio Marentos having to interfere. In the 29th match minute, FC CARROÑEROS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paolo Guerrero to maneuver through the defense. 31 minutes into the match, Dionisio Reboredo notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Universitario FC's Ambrosio Marentos. Ambrosio Marentos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the Universitario FC defense, Paolo Guerrero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ambrosio Marentos. The Universitario FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ambrosio Marentos should have stopped the shot. When Vlada Vilotijević came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the FC CARROÑEROS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vlada Vilotijević couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as FC CARROÑEROS's Paolo Guerrero slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ambrosio Marentos. That made the score 3-0 after 41 minutes of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mario Pintado made a kick off. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Universitario FC's goalkeeper Ambrosio Marentos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Paolo Guerrero blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ambrosio Marentos having to make a save. In the 56th minute, Dionisio Reboredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of FC CARROÑEROS booed when Universitario FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cruz Ochandiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ambrosio Marentos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paolo Guerrero's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Neymar Messi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Universitario FC's zone, Paolo Guerrero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ambrosio Marentos came out of the goal and Paolo Guerrero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 64 minutes into the match, Paolo Guerrero notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Universitario FC's Ambrosio Marentos. Ambrosio Marentos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ambrosio Marentos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Neymar Messi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Universitario FC's Ambrosio Marentos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paolo Guerrero in the 89th minute of play. Muno Moyeda made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Cruz Ochandiano sent off a good shot on target. Nemesio Collado in the 94thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Muno Moyeda, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
