Spectators: 7875 (Terracing: 5907, Seating: 1811, VIP seats: 157) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gustavo Cedeño started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd match minute, Deportivo Universitario was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franklin Sánchez to maneuver through the defense. Mario Quirós made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustavo Cedeño in the 4th minute. Ivan Briceño hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Carlos Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juan Quiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Jaen in the 13th minute of play. In the 13th match minute, Tole F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reggie De Paredes to maneuver through the defense. Emanuel Jaen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Juan Quiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Agustin Gutierrez hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute, Emanuel Jaen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juan Quiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 24th minute of the match, Gustavo Cedeño got a very nice opportunity to score, but Mario Quirós was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Gustavo Cedeño came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Tole F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustavo Cedeño couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute, Emiliano Villalobos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mario Quirós made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Gustavo Cedeño sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Universitario's Beto Carrillo got a free kick in the 30th minute. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Gustavo Cedeño put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Mario Quirós. The supporters of Deportivo Universitario booed when Tole F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Sobenis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edgardo Smith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, Reggie De Paredes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mario Quirós. Deportivo Universitario's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reggie De Paredes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Emanuel Jaen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivan Briceño was the one to do the kick off. Gustavo Cedeño sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mario Quirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos Navarro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Jaen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Juan Quiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The long shot by Franklin Sánchez in the 58th minute really tested Juan Quiros's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Gustavo Cedeño sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edgardo Smith scored 3-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mario Quirós, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gustavo Cedeño might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mario Quirós. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustavo Cedeño ran back to his position shaking his head. Mario Quirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fernandez in the 73rd minute of the match. Mario Quirós didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustavo Cedeño went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. If Marcos Navarro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th minute Gustavo Cedeño shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Quirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Navarro struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Mario Quirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tole F.C.. After some careless play in the Deportivo Universitario defense, Gustavo Cedeño kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mario Quirós. The Deportivo Universitario fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mario Quirós should have stopped the shot. In the 95th match minute, Tole F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reggie De Paredes to maneuver through the defense. In the 97th minute of the match Beto Carrillo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juan Quiros showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
