The supporters of Isla Grande F.C. booed when Achutupo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heraclides Escalona didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Castillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Azael Diaz made a huge save. If Juan Lao had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Isla Grande F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Castillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Juan González managed to get in a good position for a shot. Achutupo's supporters rose to their feet, but Juan González was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilfredo Oberto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Achutupo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
