In the 15thth minute of the game Eloy Amaya who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El Rincón's Alexis Mendoza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cirilo Guainora's goalkeeper Fernando Briceño, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Cirilo Guainora's Max Gil got a free kick in the 17th minute. Fernando Briceño made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reggie Arauz in the 18th minute of play. With a little luck, Cirilo Guainora's Fernando Briceño got control of the ball when Rigoberto Palma tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rigoberto Palma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Briceño having to interfere. Alexis Mendoza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romel Orozco, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 37th play minute Rigoberto Palma came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Fernando Briceño. 3-0. A collision led to El Rincón getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Francesco Corral hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reggie Arauz to make the kick off. If Reggie Arauz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reggie Arauz in the 66th minute of play forced Cirilo Guainora's goalkeeper Fernando Briceño to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Reggie Arauz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fernando Briceño was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romel Orozco during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. El Rincón's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
