Bocas Del Toro's Alex Chavez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orlando Barrera in the 13th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Bocas Del Toro's Ricardo Torrijos got a free kick in the 15th minute. Orlando Barrera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alex Chavez having to interfere. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bocas Del Toro's goalkeeper Alex Chavez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fabio Murillo hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 29th minute, Enrique Bermudez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 36 minutes, Ivan Rios managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bocas Del Toro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivan Rios was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th minute Orlando Barrera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Chavez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Ivan Rios fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Cañazas's Orlando Barrera got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Orlando Barrera to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Orlando Barrera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ramon Ortega had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivan Rios took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ramón Trejos. Ramón Trejos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Orlando Barrera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st match minute, Cañazas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Monchi Bermudez to maneuver through the defense. 72 minutes into the match, Cañazas's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Torrijos came free, but Ramón Trejos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Orlando Barrera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Alex Chavez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alex Chavez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Reggie Mendoza in the 76th minute. Ricardo Torrijos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. The Bocas Del Toro fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cañazas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
