In the 27th minute, Matias Gómez had to leave the field with a concussion. When Marcos Cedeño fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sioguí Arriba's protests and gave Marcos Cedeño a yellow card for diving instead. Francesco Zapata came out of the goal and Julio Trejos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 38th minute of the match Giancarlo Carranza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Francesco Zapata showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 39 played minutes Hercatales F.C got a freekick which was hit by Andres Sobenis. In the 47th minute, Carlos Peralta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomás Smith was the one to do the kick off. Tomás Smith fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonidas Herrera having to interfere. The Sioguí Arriba supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sioguí Arriba would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
