After a rather tough play, Penonomé F.C.'s Emanuel Quirós got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 4thth minute of the game Toto Orozco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Penonomé F.C.'s Gustavo Fernandez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tomás Bultrón charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tomás Bultrón the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tomás Bultrón hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Totin Centella fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Fernandez having to interfere. Cheito Caballero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Pedro Villalobos kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the game, Américo De Gracia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Eduardo Gonzalez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 29 played minutes Santa Fé got a freekick which was hit by Totin Centella. Américo De Gracia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 35th minute, Totin Centella got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Américo De Gracia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 42 minutes into the match, Penonomé F.C.'s Cheito Caballero sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eduardo Gonzalez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Américo De Gracia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Penonomé F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Américo De Gracia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eduardo Gonzalez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eduardo Gonzalez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cheito Caballero in the 44th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Totin Centella to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Santa Fé's Totin Centella ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gustavo Fernandez. Gustavo Fernandez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Américo De Gracia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Eduardo Gonzalez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cheito Caballero in the 66th minute of play forced Santa Fé's goalkeeper Eduardo Gonzalez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardo Muñoz charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricardo Muñoz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 70 played minutes Santa Fé got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Muñoz. 71 minutes into the game, Penonomé F.C.'s Cheito Caballero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eduardo Gonzalez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Américo De Gracia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Eduardo Gonzalez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eduardo Gonzalez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cheito Caballero's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. In the 84th minute, Américo De Gracia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Américo De Gracia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eduardo Gonzalez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cheito Caballero in the 91st minute of play. Cheito Caballero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eduardo Gonzalez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Penonomé F.C. had won after a very even match.
