The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Heraclides Gómez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Luchito González tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ergin Okergun kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Vega F.C.'s Miguel Arauz got a free kick in the 10th minute. If Raul Amaya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Dan Brumaru managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vega F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Dan Brumaru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eduardo Perez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Raul Amaya came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Vega F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raul Amaya couldn't finish the play. In the 23rd minute, Dan Brumaru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vega F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 28 minutes into the game, Raul Amaya cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Eduardo Perez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jorge Lao's late challenge caught a El Cortezo F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jorge Lao helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of El Cortezo F.C. booed when Vega F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Lao didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eduardo Perez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Caballero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Giancarlo De Diego kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Ivan Caballero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dan Brumaru in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eduardo Perez saved El Cortezo F.C. from getting behind. El Cortezo F.C.'s Eduardo Perez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raul Amaya in the 40th minute of play. Raul Amaya blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eduardo Perez having to make a save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ramón Nuñez to strike the kick off in the second half. 61 minutes into the game, Vega F.C.'s Raul Amaya nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eduardo Perez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. The crowd rose to their feet as Dan Brumaru kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eduardo Perez. That made the score 0-5 in the 67 minute of play. After 70 played minutes Vega F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Hermes Bultrón. 73 minutes into the game, Raul Amaya cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Eduardo Perez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vega F.C. made a substitution. Cheito Espino replaced Dan Brumaru. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Cheito Espino took a quick shot and it went in 0-7 without a chance for Eduardo Perez to make any attempt to save it. An unexpected shot in the 82nd minute by Raul Amaya got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 89 minutes into the match, Vega F.C.'s Raul Amaya sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eduardo Perez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cheito Espino might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eduardo Perez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cheito Espino ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ivan Caballero got free with Eduardo Perez in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vega F.C. played a much better game than El Cortezo F.C. and deserved their victory. The El Cortezo F.C. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
